World first (patent pending): AM deactivation

finally practical and compliant with EMFV and occupational safety law

The LE Pad Deactivator sets a new benchmark in the checkout area: To the best of our knowledge, it is the only AM deactivator that can be operated safely in everyday use in compliance with EMF regulations and occupational safety laws – without unrealistic safety distances, without process breaks, without "paper compliance".

The problem in the market

Many AM deactivators have a reputation for generating very high field strengths. This leads to large safety distances of up to 1-1.5 m, which are often impossible to achieve in practice – and thus to a conflict with the reality at the checkout counter: limited space, high throughput, changing body positions, and short distances.

The solution: a patent-pending field concept with clearly defined minimum distances

The LE Pad deactivator was specifically designed for safe and transparent integration into the workplace. The result is clearly defined minimum distances that are typically achievable in everyday checkout operations – and therefore a risk assessment that can actually be implemented!

Advantages at a glance:

  • Maximum safety: Hands can be safely placed on the LE Pad at any time – without exceeding any limit values.
  • Limit values for employees are only used to 21% – significant reserves are available.
  • Realistic minimum distances for implant users – no unnecessary exclusion zones.
  • Clean, simple integration into the workspace (checkout/service point).
  • Risk assessment and training can be implemented quickly, transparently, and in compliance with audit requirements.

Minimum distances (brief overview)

Group of people / Situation

Mindestabstand

Active implants (e.g., pacemakers) – distance between implant and deactivator pad

>= 37 cm

Passive implants (e.g., metal implants) – distance between implant and deactivator pad

>= 16 cm

ZNS (Kopf / Rückenmark) – Abstand zum Deaktivatorpad

>= 16 cm

Controller – distance for implants

>= 12 cm (in Einbausituation meist automatisch gegeben)

Key finding: If used as intended and minimum distances are observed, no impermissible exposures for employees are to be expected.

BG / IFA: submitted and technically verifiable

The LE deactivator was presented to the BG and "Institut für Arbeitsschutz der deutschen gesetzlichen Unfallversicherung e.V. (DGUV)". This allowed the expert bodies to form their own opinion of the concept and its practical suitability – a crucial source of trust for operators, occupational safety managers, and internal audits.

Integration in the workplace

The clear spatial assignment (pad and controller) allows the LE deactivator to be integrated in such a way that distances can be defined, visualized, and managed in everyday use. This facilitates the creation of a practical risk assessment and effective instruction, especially compared to the AM deactivators of the old generation.

Next step

We provide support with planning, installation and documentation – including recommended placement, labeling and templates for risk assessment.

Note: The site-specific risk assessment is binding. Minimum distances must be observed. For employees with implants, an individual risk assessment should be carried out in accordance with TREMF NF and DGUV Information 203-043. Implant-specific properties can be taken into account, which may result in smaller required safety distances.
